The Spirit of Love: February 17th, 2015
Dear Beloved Family and Friends,
This week was interesting and amazing to say the least. Valentine’s Day was a smashing hit for Elder Corazon and Elder Enamorado. It was the easiest day of my mission to knock some doors and people were fascinated by our last names. I love the work!
Saturday we had a follow-up appointment with our fellow missionary from the Jehovah’s Witness faith. What an exciting time to be in McDonald’s for our appointment. Just before our friend arrived, I ate some well-prepared fine dining. To our surprise our friend brought another companion to hear our message and provide some insight into our lesson. They pulled out there Bibles and began to raise some interesting questions about our religion and their beliefs over which we had an interesting discussion and about 45 minutes later left. What a friendly little visit it was.
So to be real, this is what went down Saturday at our follow-up fight with the our JW friend. Elder Enamorado and I squeezed into an overly busy morning rush of people and before our “appointment” I pounded a McGriddle and some parfaits to give me the energy to throw down if it came to that. Our friend, brought some bashing back up to the lesson, because apparently two 19-year-old boys are a little intimidating to someone that has “over 30 years of experience studying the Bible”. They slammed their Bibles down on the table after some polite introductions, and before I knew it I had to shove the rest of my meal down my face to help “clear up some misconceptions” that they clearly had about our religion. Turns out that they were willing to drive to a McDonalds, bash with two teenage “boys” (quote them), and waste 45 minutes of my mission, but wouldn’t even open the front cover of the Book of Mormon. What’s a matter? It could be right? Talk about spirit of contention. Lots of lessons learned on Saturday.
Other than that, we’ve actually been finding people that think we are servants of the Lord and not just two teenagers running around Kansas City and we are seeing progress. Nothing can stop this work. I love the mission and serving the Lord. Elder Enamorado is doing lots better now. Thanks for all of the prayers on his behalf.
Now let’s do work this week!
Mucho amor,
Elder Beau Hart
