First Week at Mexico MTC‏

First Week at Mexico MTC‏: August 28th 2013

Dear Family and Friends,

My first week has been a blast! Counting mosquito bites when you wake up in the morning is definately the quickest way to learn a lot of the Spanish numbers! Up to number 37! All joking aside, the CCM (Mexico MTC) is seriously the greatest place on earth. Let me begin by saying that it is NOT the Provo MTC in Mexico City, it is the Mexico City MTC in Mexico City. And by that I mean the food is 100% mexican. And I LOVE IT! When I head out for Missouri, it's going to be hard eating American food again. The CCM is like going to Hawaii for missionary training. There are so many palm trees and grass and parrots flying around that it's hard to remember that you're studying for 12 hours a day. Most of the time we spend outside learning. It's celestial. The calm beauty of the CCM contrasted with the heart of Mexico City--filled with horns, sirens, fireworks, and, on Friday nights, Mariachi concerts up on the mountain--is paradise. If you know anyone coming down here for mission training, let them know that they are the luckiest people on earth!

I got here late Tuesday night last week and so much has happened since! My companion is Elder Christensen from Idaho and he is quite quiet around our district. He's a hard worker and is a good companion. The other Elders in our apartment seriously look like a young Jay Leno and Sylar from NBC's Heroes. It's creepy and awesome at the same time. And everyday since has been waking up at 6:30, class, then eat, then twice as much class, then eat, then class, etc....Or at least that's how it feels.
My district is amazing! We play volleyball together everyday and do everything else together 24/7. We are super tight.

Spanish is tough, but it's coming. I can hold a conversation, although I'm far from fluent. I miss music beyond belief. I make Elder Christensen study outside with me on Friday nights just to listen to the mariachi band.

Love you all,

Elder Beau Hart
