Mission Missouri‏

Mission Missouri: October 7th, 2013

Dear family and friends,
How are you?
I am doing great! Last Wednesday we got out here at about 3 p.m. Missouri is just rolling hills! It's very scenic and green, but without mountains I don't know how to orient myself! I should've paid a little more attention in scouts.
Wednesday was a whirlwind of activities. Anyways, we were picked up from the Kansas City Airport and then were wisked off to the Kansas City Temple. It's a very beautiful and small temple. This was where I met my mission president, President Keyes and his wife (the second best cook to my mom) Sister Keyes. Immediately following, we were shuttled to the Liberty Jail Visitor Center and had the amazing opportunity to visit that historic place. After that, they took us to the Independence Visitor's Center (right across the street from the RLDS Temple--looks like a conch). I'm super blessed to have so many landmarks in my mission.
After a super long night of meetings, the next morning I met my companion and trainer Elder Verkler. He's super patient, especially with my Spanish and my attitude. I kind of feel bad that he got such a mess to train his first time--he's only been out for 3 months.
We're assigned to the Riverview Area! President Keyes calls it the "United Nations Ward" because we have people from every corner of the world. Missionaries call it "The Slums". Ha! Attitude means everything out here! It's not too bad and the people are super receptive.
Highlights:
General Conference was inspirational.
Missouri is super hot and super cold depending on the time of day.
We had a baptism in the ward! (Not that I was any contribution to it or anything)
I'm enjoying the work, but it is work.
Love you all!
Elder Hart.
